The Crucible is thrilled to announce the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths scholarship for access to our blacksmithing department and smithy. The scholarship will cover the full cost of a 15-hour blacksmithing class and will offer a stipend of $1,000 to cover materials fees, travel costs, and time away from work.
Following the challenges of the last two years, The Crucible is committed to hosting an equitable and inclusive 2021 GIFTY Craft Show and Open House. Thanks to Square, the financial services and mobile payment company, The Crucible is offering up to $5,000 in GIFTY vendor scholarships for the first time.

For more than a decade, West Oakland students ages 10-18 have been participating in our Earn-A-Bike Program, learning free bike mechanics while fixing up two frames. Upon finishing the program, participants take one bike home and donate the second to be sold in support of the Bike Shop.
Jada Works dreams of starting her own company and selling the art she makes to a wider audience. That's badass. Even more badass is helping make it possible—support the next generation of badass artists. #BeABadass and donate to The Crucible before the year ends.

Erick Dawkins first came to The Crucible on a fourth-grade field trip and has now taken four classes, finding accomplishment making with his hands.
When Onye first heard about our adult scholarship program, she jumped to apply, finding a creative refuge from her transitional youth shelter in Jewelry.
This weekend, you helped us set an all-time-high Open House attendance record, with over 1,600 attendees! Local artists and Crucible faculty sold their work, our expert faculty gave demonstrations in all 19 of our departments, and kids were busy playing Bingo to win a bike.
