GIFTY: The Crucible’s annual craft show and open house

GIFTY is held annually during the first full weekend of December at The Crucible’s 56,000-square-foot warehouse in West Oakland. The event features dozens of local vendors, hands-on activities, live demonstrations, food, drinks, class discounts, and more.

As a GIFTY vendor, you’ll engage with 3,500+ shoppers eager to support local entrepreneurs. Vendor categories include Bath & Body, Food & Drink, Glass, Homewares, Leather & Textiles, Paper & Mixed Media, Ceramics, Jewelry, and more.

A minimum of 20% of vendor spots are reserved for BIPOC artisans. Priority will be given to vendors who live and/or make their products in the Bay Area or bring something unique to the event offerings.

Small Booth (8′ x 6′) – $325
Staff & Faculty Discount Small Booth (8′ x 6′) – $225

Discounted spots may be available for qualifying low-income vendors.

Nope! GIFTY is free for all ages!

Yes, GIFTY is held indoors at The Crucible and is a great time, rain or shine.

Our event features live demonstrations that might be unsafe for animals. For this reason, we ask that you leave pets at home.

Service dogs are always welcome.

The Crucible is conveniently located near BART and AC Transit. We encourage public transportation. We also have onsite bike parking.

From the West Oakland BART Station, exit onto 7th Street, turn right and walk 2 blocks east to Union (at the 2nd light). The Crucible is on the northwest corner of 7th & Union, at 1260 7th Street. To plan your BART trip, visit www.bart.gov.

Parking

Some local street parking is available. We may also have event parking at one of the local lots. Please check the specific event page for more information.

Do not block The Crucible parking lot entrances. Do not park in lots owned by local businesses. Your car may be towed.

Yes! We will have a food truck stationed in our parking lot as well as snacks, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages available at our bar.

Our main floor is ADA-accessible. The majority of our vendors will be stationed on the main floor. A small number of Crucible classrooms and faculty vendors will be located on the second floor, which is only accessible by stairs.

Nope! There is no GIFTY application fee.

Yes, GIFTY is a two-day commitment.

If you are a maker or small business that has a conflicting one-day event, we recommend recruiting a friend or family member to help cover your space at GIFTY.

Over the two-day event, we usually see between 3,500 and 4,000 visitors.

While we will do our best to accommodate location requests, we can not promise they will be fulfilled.

If you are a returning vendor, please let us know if you hope to be in the same location from a previous year and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Yes, vendors must reapply and be reaccepted each year. We cannot hold spaces for past accepted vendors who were unable to participate.

Returning vendors are not guaranteed acceptance. We work hard to create a diverse, high-quality shopping experience for our visitors and have to make some difficult cuts in the process. Please know that if you are not accepted one year, you may be the next—please apply again!

We accept vendors from across the Bay Area with priority going to vendors for Oakland and neighboring sities. Applicants from outside The Bay will not be accepted.

If you have been accepted and can no longer participate, the following deadlines and fees apply:

  • 40 or more days before GIFTY – Full refund minus $25 application fee
  • 10-39 days before GIFTY – 50% refund of booth fee
  • 0-9 days before GIFTY – No refund

By submitting payment for your vendor space, you are agreeing to these terms.

Your vendor fee is crucial in ensuring a successful GIFTY. Vendor fees help cover:

  • Application review and vendor curation
  • Marketing
  • Studio fees, specifically the work done to transform our 56,000-square-foot facility, (cleaning, relocating heavy machinery, and other crucial tasks)
  • Operating fees for the basics: electricity, permitting, security, and more
  • Event planning and management
