For the past few years, Valerie Fish has found inspiration for her stained glass all around her, be it California poppies or a drawing by her son. As a longtime maker, Valerie knows the importance of art, especially for our youth, and when presented with an opportunity to support The Crucible’s programming through Giving Back at GIFTY, she jumped at the chance!
This has been an especially challenging year for makers and small businesses. So we knew it was important to continue our 17-year-long tradition of GIFTY, our annual craft show. But this year, for the first time, GIFTY is going virtual. Starting November 9, we'll be highlighting over 80 Bay Area makers and small businesses selling things like original jewelry, handcrafted soaps, sculpted glassware, and so much more.
Thank you to everyone who braved the storms this weekend and made it out to GIFTY 2019! Staff, faculty, and volunteers came together to make our studio shine, and all the months of effort by our vendors leading up to GIFTY fully paid off. The wide range of beautiful and hand-crafted goods, from jewelry to candles to embroidery kits, were the best and brightest collection we've ever had! Check out our favorite GIFTY 2019 photos from the event!
We’re gearing up for what is sure to be the biggest, brightest and best GIFTY yet! Are you ready for two days full of demos, hands-on family-friendly activities, and the best Bay Area artisan vendor shopping? To get you prepped for GIFTY, we put together a fun crossword puzzle with clues about what you’ll find at our craft show and open house.
For most makers, November is high production time, and that is no different for Latisha Baker. This year, she’ll be returning for her third GIFTY craft show at The Crucible. About a year-and-a-half ago, Latisha committed to making art full time, but she’s been creating fine and wearable art for the past two decades.
At GIFTY 2019, dozens of leading East Bay artists, craftspeople, and Crucible faculty members will be selling their best handmade pieces in a holiday celebration of local creative culture. You are sure to find the perfect gifts for the toughest people on your list with vendors showcasing exquisite pieces of jewelry, locally designed clothing and accessories, whimsical metal sculptures, practical ceramic tableware, and more!
We hope you had as much fun at GIFTY as we did! With 69 local vendors, prizes, hot drinks, delicious food, fiery demos, record-breaking attendance, and more, this was a weekend to remember!
GIFTY will be packed with opportunities for you to shop from 68 local vendors, eat delicious food, learn from faculty demos, create small gifts, win amazing prizes, and more! We made you a helpful flow chart to create your game plan!
