Withdrawal & Transfer Policies

Updated February 7, 2023

The Crucible has updated our withdrawal policies to help offset the costs of studio and administrative operations. These policies are put in place to ensure a class will not be canceled due to low enrollment for students who can attend and so that we can schedule our faculty and staff appropriately. Please read and understand these updated policies before registering for classes to avoid incurring additional fees. These changes are effective starting Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Registrations purchased before Tuesday, February 7, 2023 are subject to The Crucible’s past policy.

Please make sure to read the full description of a class before registering as many continuing courses have prerequisites. If a student registers for a class without meeting the prerequisites and is unable to provide proof of prior experience they will be required to withdraw and the mandatory withdrawal will be subject to all applicable fees. On rare occasions, students may skip prerequisites upon the Department Head’s preapproval of recent and relative experience. Please email registrar@thecrucible.org for more information before completing your registration.

In some cases, a student may be eligible for a refund less a non-refundable registration fee. Refund decisions will be based on the type of class and the date of request. All registrations are subject to applicable fees regardless of the payment method or purchaser.

To withdraw from a class, please email registrar@thecrucible.org. Upon receipt of a request, eligibility for a refund or transfer will be determined by the following criteria:

Refund Policies Based On Class Type

The Crucible strives to keep the industrial arts as accessible as possible, offering a variety of classes to help new and returning artists explore different mediums. For this reason, we offer a lower withdrawal fee for these classes to create a more equitable experience.

The Crucible operates a limited number of seasonal Youth Camp programs for students ages 8-18. Quite often family interest exceeds the number of spots available in our classes. As a result, The Crucible has adapted our Camp withdrawal policies to better support families and help manage placements in our Youth Programs.

Please read and understand these updated policies before registering your child for classes to avoid incurring additional fees. These changes are effective starting Tuesday, February 7. 2023.

To confirm refunds or transfers, Youth Camp withdrawal requests must be received from the purchasing party. If a parent or guardian is not the purchasing party, make sure to include the purchasing party on the withdrawal request email.

Withdrawal requests received at least 30 days before the class’ first scheduled session are eligible for a refund or transfer withholding the $100 non-refundable registration fee per registration.

Requests received 7 to 29 days before the class’ first scheduled session are eligible for a refund or transfer less the $100 non-refundable registration fee plus an additional $50 processing fee per registration.

Canceled Classes

The Crucible has the right to cancel any class for any reason. In some cases, classes are canceled due to low enrollment. In the event that The Crucible cancels your class, you will be notified by email or receive a courtesy call. You may choose a full refund or you may transfer to another class if space is available. If we do not receive a confirmation on how you would like to proceed within 14 days of notification, the funds will be fully refunded back to the original form of payment.
