It is with a heartfelt thank you that we exit 2017. It has been a record-breaking year on many accounts. Our core programs – adult classes and workshops, youth industrial arts education, and community engagement – all reached new levels of engagement, and over 10,000 people of diverse ages and backgrounds participated in genuine, hands-on making.

Throughout the year, we ran 480 adult classes serving 3,131 students, our studios were packed with 3,148 people participating in 191 team builds, and more than 5,000 youth joined us to learn more about the industrial arts.

In particular, we are proud of our work removing barriers to creativity for students. In 2017:

  • 35 local schools participated in free and discounted field trips, workshops, and in-school presentations.
  • 491 youth participated in the bike repair and fabrication programs at no cost.
  • 26 youth participated in our mentoring programs (18 Fuego Youth Leaders and 8 Pre-Apprentices).
  • $120,000 in free and reduced cost classes for under-resourced youth populations were offered, and we filled 15.6% of class spaces with scholarship students.

But most importantly, we had a blast! See below for a slideshow of some of our favorite moments from 2017.
