Every February, The Bay Area celebrates and recognizes the myriad contributions of Black Americans to our local and national culture during Black History Month events. Throughout the month, you can explore art exhibitions, dance parties, family-friendly readings, film series, and more across the Bay Area.

If you’d like to learn more about Black history, you can visit the African American Museum and Library at Oakland (AAMLO). Explore their online collection of journals, documents, films, and other educational resources using your Oakland library card, or visit in person and enjoy exhibits, workshops, and activities for all ages.
