Please join us Friday, June 5, for our next virtual artist talk with Crucible faculty member, Rob Nehring, of our Welding Department. Rob has been a part of The Crucible community since the early 2000s when he traveled from Chicago to take his first class. Since then, Rob has held all kinds of positions within our organization, from volunteer to Director of Programs. We’ll discuss Rob’s body of work and the importance of using recycled materials to create his sculptures.

We’ll be speaking with Nico Chen, writer, photographer, and critical learning scientist focused on reimagining education through language. Nico is a Ph.D. student in the Teaching and Learning Department at NYU Steinhardt and the Fuego Youth Leadership Coordinator at The Crucible.

Oakland is a city known for its art—it's often listed as one of the main attractions for visitors. Normally, we have the privilege of seeing art come to life in our studio on a daily basis. But since our own studio is shut down, we're looking for new, creative ways to engage with Oakland while staying safe.
