Meet Lizette Sanchez, a multidisciplinary artist and Bay Area native whose dedication to community and craft has made a lasting impact at The Crucible. Lizette joined us in the summer of 2021 to relaunch the Youth Camps, a pivotal moment for both the organization and the broader community. Stepping in with unwavering commitment, she supported both the Glass Fusing and Ceramics departments through the challenges of rigorous social-distancing protocols—ensuring that young artists not only remained safe but continued to experience the joy and freedom of creative expression.
Since then, Lizette has earned her role as Co–Head of Ceramics, working alongside Rosa Dorantes over the past three years to expand the department’s offerings through an array of innovative classes and workshops. A skilled collaborator and studio technician, Lizette is also a standout instructor whose deep passion for teaching empowers students to explore their creativity with confidence and curiosity. Her leadership, artistry, and community spirit make her an essential force within The Crucible.
Most recently, Lizette’s ceramic sculptures have appeared in several San Francisco galleries, her hands-on demonstrations have drawn crowds at the county fair, and she is soon to begin teaching at the Richmond Art Center—a milestone she has long envisioned.
