The Crucible’s CFO, Renée Ventimiglia, To Act As Interim Executive Director

Cathy Niland | 03.01.2023

The Crucible is in the process of hiring our next Executive Director. But, in the meantime, we are thrilled to announce Crucible CFO, Renée Ventimiglia, as our Interim ED.

Renée has been involved with The Crucible for over a decade. After several years as a supporter, she joined our Board of Directors in 2013 working as Treasurer and leading our Finance Committee. In 2017, she joined our staff as CFO.

Renée’s accounting expertise has been crucial to the wellbeing of our nonprofit. During her tenure, she has worked closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Directors to bring greater financial stability to our organization. In 2020, Renée worked tirelessly to acquire PPP loans that ensured The Crucible could stay afloat during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her general math and numbers wizardry is a pillar in keeping our 56,000 square-foot warehouse operational.

“I’ve witnessed The Crucible’s evolution over the years; from hosting the Fire Arts Festival to offering BIPOC entrepreneurial programming. It’s been exciting to watch it morph into the West Oakland community institution it is today. I’m proud to be a part of The Crucible’s next chapter and help facilitate its growth as an accessible arts hub.”

In her 30 plus-year career, Renée has also held a number of accounting roles in fields including high tech, commercial film production, and global investment management. Prior to joining The Crucible, she worked for Chuck Feeney’s investment group, InterPacific/General Atlantic.

Outside of work, Renée enjoys kayaking urban waterways, collecting vinyl, hosting dinner parties, and spending time with her cranky, senior pug, Molly.

Don’t forget to share our Executive Director job posting with folks you think might be the right fit. In the meantime, Renée will be holding down the fort!
