A Message from the Crucible Board

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with concern, support, sympathy and offers of help over the past few days.

It is inspiring to see how much The Crucible means to this community and in the broader Bay Area.

Please know the decision to close was not taken lightly, but financial circumstances left no choice.

The information requests after the closure announcement have been overwhelming.  Unfortunately, we have limited resources to respond to the requests and suggestions.

Here are some important facts:

• The Crucible will not be able to hold classes or events during the closure–and the building must remain closed. We know this has disrupted plans and caused hardship for students, staff, faculty, and our community.
• We are working on a plan to address outstanding issues.
• First and foremost, this means ensuring our employees are paid for work performed. We expect to be able to pay staff as scheduled this week.
• We are working on a plan to issue refunds for canceled classes and events, but we are not yet in a position to say when that will occur.
• We understand there are a lot of conversations taking place right now about this situation. We hope to bring you more information in the near future.
• We are working to find the best possible path forward and will share updates as we have more information.
