CJ Martinez

CJ Martinez is a metalsmith and enamelist who is nationally certified in metal art clay. She works fluidly across all three mediums, with a special love for combining them in unexpected and expressive ways. Deeply committed to arts education, CJ finds joy not only in creating, but in empowering others to create. She is especially passionate about designing inclusive, accessible classes—offering three-hour and one-day workshops that welcome people of all backgrounds and experience levels. In addition to teaching adult classes at The Crucible, CJ has led Youth programs for students ages eight and up, as well as off-site workshops and special events throughout the Bay Area, engaging participants of all ages. For more than a decade, she has been a regular part of Field Trip Days at The Crucible, where she introduces young people to the fundamentals of jewelry metalsmithing and enameling through live demonstrations and hands-on learning. Her guiding philosophy as an educator: “Do not lament what you cannot do; instead, celebrate and embrace the strengths of what you can do.”
