At GIFTY 2017, dozens of leading East Bay artists, craftspeople, and Crucible faculty members will be selling their best handmade pieces in a holiday celebration of local creative culture. With vendors showcasing exquisite pieces of jewelry, locally designed clothing and accessories, whimsical metal sculptures, practical ceramic tableware, and more, you are sure to find the perfect gifts for the toughest people on your list. Season treats, beverages, and holiday entertainers make this an event all ages can enjoy. And in the midst of your holiday shopping, don’t forget to check out exciting demonstrations by our expert faculty in Glass Blowing, Blacksmithing, Foundry, and more! This is a great way to support local artists and learn more about the many different classes offered at The Crucible.

BIKE SALE
We have a great selection of bicycles that have been fully rebuilt by our youth and volunteer mechanics. In addition to getting a sweet, reliable ride, your purchase supports our Youth Earn-A-Bike Program and Bike Fixathons. Bikes are priced between $20-$150.

MEET SANTA
Take a ride on Santa’s sleigh… err, we mean art bike! Santa will be in the house from 2-6pm on Saturday and 2-5pm on Sunday.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES
Our neighbors will be setting up tents and pulling their food trucks up to tempt your palates. And we’ll have a bar serving drinks inside. Please note, some vendors are cash only.

FREE COOKIE DECORATING
Stop by our free gingerbread cookie decorating station on Saturday & Sunday from 12-2pm!

CAROLINE MCCASKEY
Caroline McCaskey is an internationally-recognized singing saw musician and will provide musical entertainment for the weekend.

Help Promote GIFTY
1. Pick up free GIFTY postcards in the Marketing Department of The Crucible to give out to your community!
2. Download our digital promotional materials, including an 11″X17″ GIFTY poster, a 5″X7″ GIFTY postcard, and two .png graphics that you can put over any of your own images to use on social media or your personal websites.
3. Share our Facebook event on your Facebook page, or promote TheCrucible.org/GIFTY on your other social media platforms.

The Crucible is conveniently located near BART and AC Transit. We encourage public transportation as our parking lot is small.
BART
From the West Oakland BART Station, exit onto 7th Street, turn right and walk 2 blocks east to Union (at the 2nd light). The Crucible is on the northwest corner of 7th & Union, at 1260 7th Street. To plan your BART trip, visit www.bart.gov.

PARKING
The Crucible has a small parking lot on the corner of 7th & Union. Spaces are available on a first come first serve basis, but will not be available during events. Street parking is available on 7th Street to the west of Union.
Please do not block the Union Street entrance marked in red, the 7th Street entrance, or the roll up doors. Please do not park in lots owned by local businesses – they will tow your car.
DIRECTIONS
From San Francisco 1. From the Bay Bridge, stay right and take 880 South 2. Stay in the right lane 3. Take the Union Street Exit marked “Alameda/Broadway” 4. At the bottom of the exit ramp go straight through the first traffic light. 5. The second traffic light is 7th Street. 6. 1260 7th Street is across the street to your left.
From North of Oakland 1. From 80/580 South get onto 880 South 2. Stay in the right lane 3. Take the Union Street Exit marked “Alameda/Broadway” 4. At the bottom of the exit ramp go straight through the first traffic light. 5. The second traffic light is 7th Street. 6. 1260 7th Street is across the street to your left.
From South of Oakland 1. 880 North 2. Take the Market Street exit toward “Harbor Terminal” (just after the exit for 980 North) 3. At the bottom of the exit ramp turn right onto Market Street 4. Turn left at the traffic light onto 7th Street 5. Go three blocks to Union Street 6. 1260 7th Street is on your right.
From East of Oakland 1. Take Hwy 24/980 West 2. Take the 12th Street Exit 3. At the top of the exit ramp go straight to the 2nd traffic light 4. Turn right at the traffic light onto 7th Street 5. Go three traffic lights to Union Street 6. 1260 7th Street is on your right.
