The Crucible’s 2021 Spark the Summer: A Virtual Fundraiser
Young people from across the Bay Area deserve the opportunity to make art and learn new skills that they bring to the rest of their lives. Join us for a fun, virtual event that showcases the power of our summer programs and works to raise money to support youth scholarship access for this year.
This summer, The Crucible plans to bring over 500 young people back into our building for classes and programs. With your support, we can reserve 20% of these spots for scholarship students, so all interested young people can attend, regardless of cost.
Invest in the makers of tomorrow by joining us from the comfort of your home for a celebration of industrial arts, community, creativity, and resiliency.
About the program
Join us for a one-hour presentation hosted by Community Programs Manager, Ismael Plasencia, and Former Fuego Leader in Jewelry, Leslie Kwok. Iz and Leslie will lead our virtual audience through an evening celebrating the art, industry, and community in our 56,000-square-foot West Oakland maker space.

Funding the Summer Season
Last year in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Crucible opened its doors and welcomed 366 young people back into our building for in-person summer camps, providing a much-needed break from the increasingly distant and digital world. However, financial and occupancy restrictions kept The Crucible from resuming our scholarship program, a key part of our mission to keep the industrial arts accessible to everyone.
You can show your support for arts access and youth empowerment, by becoming a summer sponsor and ensuring that youth—regardless of financial means—can gain life-changing skills in the fine and industrial arts.
RSVP for an inspiring evening and peek into our summer programs and their impact.
Donate During The Event And You Could Win
A random drawing from the names of all those who donate during the event will happen live at the end of the program.
