2020 fuego youth leadership reception

2021 Fuego Youth Leadership Reception

Join us live on Zoom for our 2021 virtual Fuego Youth Leadership Reception on Thursday, July 29 starting at 6:30pm PDT.

This year, we invited eleven new Fuego Youth Leaders, ages 14-18, to join us for a four-week intensive program in the fine and industrial arts.  Youth will work on personal projects with a mentor and assist faculty during Youth Summer Camps in their seven respective departments—Bike Shop, Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Glass Flameworking, Jewelry, Welding, and Woodworking.

At the end of four weeks, our Fuego Leaders will come together to unveil their final projects for friends, family, and faculty in a reception celebrating their growth. You, our Crucible community members, are invited to join the reception virtually via Zoom to see the impact of your support.

Thank you CASS, Inc. for your continued support of the Fuego Youth Leadership Program.

Since 2011, CASS has contributed over $300,000 to The Crucible’s youth programs, with primary support going to The Crucible’s Fuego Youth Leadership Program. The support from CASS enables The Crucible to offer hands-on learning and professional development opportunities for young people as they learn unique skills, such as welding, woodworking, and glass flameworking.

“I’ve been at The Crucible since I was eight, but I didn’t know about the Fuego program until I started lost wax casting. There was a Fuego Leader there who taught me the techniques and encouraged me to branch out. I thought it might be fun to try to teach someone else.”

Tobias Classen, Age 16, Fuego Leader in TIG Welding

“I’m excited because I love being creative. And I love using my imagination and bringing it to life. The Crucible is the place where I can actually physically make my imagination come to life.”

Ashala Jones, Age 18, Fuego Leader in Ceramics

“I’m excited about this program because I get to make things with my hands and also teach people at the same time. I think it will teach me to be more confident in myself.”

Chris Gonzales-Ordonez, Age 17, Fuego Leader in Blacksmithing

“I love working with my hands and creating cool art—jewelry, woodshop, collage. I was so excited to hear that The Crucible has this program that exactly fits what I was looking for. I’m hoping this will give me an opportunity to learn and grow, and also teach kids which is another passion of mine.”

Evie Moussa, Age 16, Fuego Leader in Jewelry

“The Fuego Program is a great opportunity to become a better leader and to do these classes. They’re really fun and I love to learn new things.”

Isaiah Gonzales, Age 15, Fuego Leader in Bike Shop
