2020 fire & light soirée

POSTPONED – The Crucible’s 2020 Fire & Light Soirée and Art Auction

At this time, The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that no gatherings with 50 people or more take place for the next eight weeks to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. The Crucible is postponing our Fire & Light Soirée originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18 for a future date to be determined.

This event secures the vital funding needed for the work we do with youth and adults of limited means (particularly during the summer season), and we hope to reschedule Soirée sometime in the next six months. Your safety, and the safety of our community, is so important to us. We thank you for your understanding.

The Crucible is currently closed due to an Alameda County mandate for residents to shelter in place and all non-essential businesses to close. While it is unknown how long businesses will be closed in Alameda County, we hope to resume regular scheduling as soon as possible. With the cancellation or postponement of all upcoming classes and events, we are losing essential revenue for operating this unique space and critical funding that helps us fulfill our mission.

The Crucible has more than 200 working artists who rely on us for studio space and employment—making us one of the largest communities of artists in The Bay Area. This health crisis brings all their income (and ours) to a grinding halt. Please consider supporting us during this uncertain time.
