Addressing Coronavirus Concern and Prevention

By Natasha von Kaenel | 03.5.20

Over the past couple weeks, you have likely heard of the Covid-19 Coronavirus that is raising health concerns around the world. According to the CDC, there is no immediate public threat in the East Bay at this time. But The Crucible is closely monitoring the situation and taking precautions to help keep our community safe.

The Crucible regularly sanitizes shared items like door knobs, tools, safety glasses, and equipment. In our studio and bathrooms, we’ve posted signs reminding folks of best practices for hand washing. And we’ve made disinfecting wipes and sprays more available throughout our space. At this time, we are confident that we are doing our best to ensure The Crucible is a safe, clean place for our community to be creative.

Right now, the best thing to do is make sure your hands are clean, your space is clean, and if you are feeling unwell or exhibiting flu-like symptoms to stay at home.

For artists, this is a great time to clean both your studio space and to sanitize any tools you use frequently. We encourage you to also post virus prevention signage in your community spaces—whether that’s at your office, community center, or shared studio art space.

Thank you for helping us all stay healthy—and creative. If you have any questions about how The Crucible is responding to the Covid-19 Coronavirus, feel free to reach out to info@thecrucible.org.
