Craftspeople have traditionally used jigs to improve the speed and accuracy of their hand tool work, but making them well by hand is challenging. Learn about how to properly use jigs, then use the machines in our workshop to make a precise bench hook and a shooting board with miter attachments. Bring your own bench or block plane, or use ours to see what will be right for you.

I’ve lived almost all my life in the East Bay, attended the Wood Technology trade school program at Laney, and have spent decades since building furniture. My desire to mix wood and metal in my designs brought me to The Crucible, where I now enjoy being a teacher of wood, and a student of metal. I love sharing what turns me on about these dynamic materials, and helping people chase their creative goals.
