Call
for Artists/Performers
A
Celebration of Creation through Fire & Light
The 2008 Fire Arts Festival will feature large
outdoor shows on all four nights:
Wednesday, July 9th through Saturday, July 12th.
We are seeking musicians, individual
performers, and performance groups to present and
showcase their work. We are also seeking installation
artists to display their pieces in the Fire Arts
Arena, all around the stage.
Performance art criteria:
- New, dynamic, and
creative theatrical stage performances involving
fire, light, aerial, or other theatrics
- An interest
in blending different disciplines and art forms
to create something new and unique; multimedia
collaborations between performers, musicians,
and installation pieces are encouraged
- A proven
capacity to work with performers of varied
artistic and aesthetic backgrounds
- A demonstrated
commitment to safe, high quality original works
- A
professional, non-competitive, and low-attitude
approach to working with others
The 2008 Fire Arts Festival is designed to be
more than a variety show of independent fire troupes
and performers. While there will be specific stage
times available to individuals and groups, we are
looking for artists who are interested in and willing
to collaborate with new people and push the boundaries
of their art. For example, we are seeking fire
troupes that would be open to creating choreography
that corresponds to live musical acts. In your
application, please make sure to let us know about
your level of interest and experience in this type
of collaborative process.
Installation/ Interactive art criteria:
We are seeking installation and interactive
art pieces with the following qualities:
- Large
-scale and interactive outdoor sculpture
- New and
original works in fire, water, steam, electricity,
and kinetics
- Interactive installations
- Multi-media and multi-disciplinary
artwork
Due to the popularity of this event, we
may not be able to accommodate everyone who would
like to perform or exhibit work.
If you are interested
in participating as a performer or installation
artist, please fill out the appropriate application
online. We will only be accepting electronic submissions
for this year’s festival.
Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you
and working together on this exciting event!
