 Maira Dizgalvis

Maira Dizgalvis' passion for metalworking was sparked in her early teens. She studied under the master Latvian silversmith Juris Klavins, who inspired her with his vast knowledge of Jewelry making techniques and ethnography. She has continued the tradition of Latvian jewelry making, using historical motifs as well as more modern, organic shapes. She's also active in passing on these traditions, teaching workshops to adults and children. She lives in Oakland with a trio of charming and accomplished cats.
