Many folks showed up to support local artists and community arts education for youth and adults while getting their last minute shopping done at the Bay Area’s most unusual holiday celebration! While shopping for unique and affordable gifts created by over 50 Bay Area artisans, they experienced the excitement of our 56,000 sq. ft. studio. Check out live demonstrations, student work and even got a visit from Old Santa Nick himself.

Holiday Gifty Art Sale & Open House Saturday and Sunday, December 16 & 17, 2006 10am to 4pm
On December 16 & 17 from 10 AM to 4 PM, The Crucible will hold its annual Gifty Holiday Art Sale, an opportunity to shop at the last minute and celebrate the holidays as only The Crucible can. More than forty local artists and artisans will offer an assortment of unique handmade gifts including sterling silver necklaces featuring serotonin molecules (a soothing touch for the holiday season), handmade glass ornaments, and elegantly painted wooden boxes. An art show will feature elegant creations by noted artists working in metal, glass, wood, and multimedia.

Holiday Gifty Arts & Crafts Sale and Winter Open House Saturday, December 18, 2004 from 10-5pm Sunday, December 19, 2004 from 10-4pm
This past December The Crucible held its first Winter Open House. From floas (fleece boas) to metal books, colorful duct-tape wallets to blown glass ornaments, all who attended went home with arms full of unique gifts to give family and friends. Many thanks to the vendors who participated in the sale, and the students and faculty who displayed their artwork. Now we all have one more reason to look forward to the holidays next year!

The Fourth Annual Mad Scientist Surplus Sale, Fall Open House & Fix-A-Thon September 25-26, 2004
Mad Scientist Surplus Sale: Come and be a part of a Crucible tradition! Check out industrial grade materials and machines that have been appropriated for a second life. Artists, small businesses, and anyone interested in industrial-grade stainless steel, scientific glass supplies and equipment and tools, can purchase these salvaged jewels in the rough. Local Industry has kindly donated these supplies, its up to you to put them to new use.
Open House: Come see The Crucible's full program of industrial and fine arts in action! Experience welding, blacksmithing, neon, glass flameworking, woodworking, a live bronze pour and more as our entire 48,000 square foot warehouse comes alive with arts and crafts demonstrations and hands-on activities.
Bring your kids! We'll have special activities for youth, including fire performances, hands-on projects, and popcorn!
Fix-A-Thon: Our annual FIX-A-THON is your chance to bring in broken items and let us fix them for you! We can fix everything from cracked bike frames to neon that's lost its glow. Bring us your knives that need sharpening, broken garden furniture, ornamental metalwork and decorative arts in need of repair, jewelry that's lost its luster, three-legged furniture and more. Our professional and friendly staff will do their best to restore your items to full working order for a fraction of regular repair costs.

Learn about the educational programs designed to whet your creativity and to teach you to work metal, glass, neon, clay, stone and more. Come see first-hand what The Crucible is all about!
Sparks fly for hands-on demonstrations of metal working, glassworking, neon, and ceramics. Grab a hammer and try blacksmithing or stonecarving. Wander with wonder as you watch artists and artisans weld, cut and form metal, work glass, fire clay, and bend neon tube. Expert faculty and artists will be on hand to answer questions and to share their tricks, tips and techniques. Bring the kids: There are lots of youth-friendly activities, and they’ll get to see the power of creation using industrial processes and traditional techniques.
