Easton Smith began
his training in Indiana. He moved to train at the
Washington School of Ballet in D.C., and then the
Pacific Northwest Ballet, finishing his training
in California at Contra Costa Ballet in 1997. From
1998 to 2003, Easton danced with San Francisco’s
Smuin Ballet, which Dance Magazine called
“one of this country’s most entertaining,
original ballet troupes.” He continued with
the Sacramento Ballet for the next two seasons until
again teaming up with the Smuin Ballet for the 2005-2006
season while doing guest work for Sacramento Ballet's
fall season. Easton has just returned from performing
in Tokyo with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and
other influential artists of America as a gift to
Daisaku Ikeda for Mr. Ikeda's achievement of 200
honorary doctorates. Easton is currently working
on his own dance project at the Urban Art Farm,
an artist co-op in San Francisco, as well as choreographing
a show at Soka University in Los Angeles.
