Mark Streshinsky

Mark Streshinsky is new to ballet having spent many years directing operas. He recently had great critical success directing the world premier of David Carlson’s Anna Karenina which opened the Ziff Opera House in Miami and was subsequently performed at Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Mark made his Michigan Opera Theater debut in 2006 directing Rossini’s La Cenerentola, and returned to that company this past fall to direct Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. Mark has directed four operas for The Berkeley Opera creating critically acclaimed productions of Eugene Onegin, Handel’s Acis and Galatea and Legend of the Ring (a one-evening version of Wagner’s Ring cycle). Most recently for the company, he directed the world premier of Chrysalis, by composer Clark Suprynowicz and playwright John O’Keefe. He was a member of the staging staff of San Francisco Opera for five years and has served on the faculties of Opera North and Des Moines Metro Opera’s young artist programs, staging opera scenes with young singers.
